A feat of engineering, design, passion, dedication. My crossing of the Golden Gate embraces all these aspects. I spend a long time on the bridge, taking pictures. Relishing. Breathing in the perfect afternoon.

The bikeway is now complete – bicycles cross on the west path. No more weaving in and out of pedestrians, baby strollers, dogs, dawdlers. But care is needed, lots of bikes heading full speed in my direction!

The sunset over the bay is stunning, capping the challenging day’s ride. Breathing in, warm autumn air in San Francisco, a rare thing. Halfway to San Diego.
