Day 19: Mendocino to Boonville, 43 miles

Today, I head inland as I choose a new route to approach Calistoga and Harbin Hot Springs.  I follow Shoreline Highway, marveling at the clear views of blue sky, crashing waves, empty expanses.  I cross the wooden trestle bridge at Albion, an amazing feat for a major highway.

At the Navarro River, I turn east and follow the river highway, a gradual gentle grade all the way into Boonville. A long stretch of shade redwoods, then vineyard after vineyard as I cycle deeper into the Anderson Valley.  I camp at an empty RV park at the Mendocino County fairgrounds.
